Biweekly update 13th May — 27th May

These two weeks are not fraught with important development updates for Komodo — only regular 0.3.6 update of Agama Wallet and DEX Update. But ecosystem projects showed themselves in the best light. One example is K64, decentralized game based on Komodo Platform, which is now secured with dPoW (Delayed PoW). But with that said, Komodo is going on its social promotion via YouTube explanation and JL777’s, lead developer, own blog on Medium. Speaking of which, JL777 admitted that KMD coins are the more attractive for developers than ERC20, because KMD does not charge any taxes or fees and developer can decide how much to get from transactions. To be honest, it can be the significant reason to choose KMD as the platform where start your own token. It is essential to recall that we can get sight of Komodo at several meetings, whose information is below. As to Komodo finance, there is upturn in TPS and KMD Volume which is a bright spot. It is incumbent upon us to a great trend in Facebook page’s social dynamic. Finally, we are impatiently awaiting introduction to the winners during the next few weeks so that we can get a better impression of the Notary Node owners.

New tutorials:

This technical introduction is the GUI developer’s guide to using some technology covered in previous weeks in regards to asset exchange:

  1. Tokenized assets
  2. Pegged currencies & secure trustless oracles
  3. Synthetic positions on stocks & foreign exchange
  4. Game assets

  • Blockchain Gaming & Komodo Platform

Find out in this 4 minute explainer why Komodo Platform & K64 are a game changer for blockchain and gaming!

JL777 wrote: “Komodo does not want to charge you taxes in KMD. Komodo wants to help your project succeed and get lots of users. It has a long term view of years and decades and the goodwill that Komodo will gain and whatever spillover it get from the ecosystem projects, that is enough. Over time, with thousands of projects, KMD will have massive value just from being in the center of the ecosystem. Having default trading pairs denominated in KMD is just one direct benefit. Being known as the cool tech platform that enabled their favorite project to be implemented efficiently and cost effectively, that establishes the KMD brand very strongly and in time he believes that will be the biggest contributor to KMD value.”

There is the most important comparison of ERC20 tokens to KMD tokens. This is the main explanation why it makes sense to build your token on Komodo Platform and how no KMD tax is actually a big benefit in long term.

Upcoming events:

In collaboration with the Atlanta Blockchain Society, BlokTech Atlanta presents an educational workshop on the purpose, mechanism, and applications of cryptocurrency swaps through using the Komodo token.

The eagerly anticipated May meet-up offers the chance for anyone interested in crypto, blockchain and decentralised ledger technology to learn more about the latest industry news and advances. There will be an array of public lectures and presentations as well as the chance for attendees to mingle with likeminded people and make new professional contacts. The blockchain and crypto industries move at a rapid rate and therefore, Bitcoin Club Cyprus aims to deliver cutting-edge insight.

The event will be recorded and livestreamed for future use. It follows other networking events arranged by the same team including Nakamoto’s Den, an investment blockchain conference which saw start-ups and established businesses battle for much-needed investment.

Roadmap

They do have an internal roadmap, but they have yet to make that information public. Part of the reason why they do this is that if the landscape changes, we desire to be flexible in adapting as necessary.

1H 2019

2H 2019

  • Release of Komodo’s Developer Portal to support increased participation and involvement of Komodo community
  • Increased usage of AWS Marketplace to support Komodo products and services, including independent blockchains and custom consensus modules
  • Release of GUI for a fully mobile-ready wallet/DEX hybrid

Partnerships and team members

No updates.

Ecosystem

There are all projects built on Komodo in one Google Spreadsheet.

  • Cross-Chain, Automated, Merge Mineable & Stakeable PBaaS By Verus

Hours ago in an ANN on discord, Mike Toutonghi announced the one year anniversary of the Verus mainnet launch this week. With the announcement the public can now define, start, run, merge mine, stake and auto-cross notarize many chains as part of the Verus testnet in both CLI & GUI form.

Using new merkle mountain range (MMR) implementations, the PBaaS is nothing short of brilliant:

  1. Auto-notarizing consensus algorithm
  2. Inter-node RPC
  3. zk-SNARKs
  4. FPGA & CPU mineable for decentralized security
  5. Stakeable
  6. 51% hash attack resistant

Follow this guide if you have a great blockchain idea!

  • CHIPS P2P Poker Installer

Within the Komodo ecosystem, one project uses the Lightning Network for the purpose of microtransactions. The use case is for blockchain based poker. The project name is CHIPS.

This week, the first beta version of a community script installer for CHIPS, a p2p poker project within the Komodo ecosystem, became available. CHIPS features the Lightning Network for microtransactions between poker dealer and a poker player. CHIPS discord invite is here.

  • K64 Now Secured With DPoW

Komodore Games receives a lot of encouraging support from the Komodo community. K64 is a pre-mine chain that is being secured by the decentralized blockchain security service of dPoW (delayed proof of work). The integration work is managed by Chainmakers. The K64 chain represents two key aspects for game developers that choose Komodo:

  1. Application Specific Blockchains
  2. Features for Game Devs

More news from Komodore Games will come leading up to their expo on June 29 in The Netherlands. Komodo GM & RedFOX Labs CEO Ben Fairbank will be there as well as some notary node operator representatives and the European community members.

Also receiving dPoW security recently is the Koinon project, with integration work managed by ChainZilla.

  • ChainZilla Updates Chameleon Pay

Recently elected as a Notary Node Operator, ChainZilla manages the development of their own multi-coin wallet, Chameleon Pay. The update release announcement is on the ChainZilla medium blog.

Michael J. Casey, the chairman of CoinDesk’s advisory board and a senior advisor for blockchain research at MIT’s Digital Currency Initiative, wrote: “Again, however, attacks encouraged positive technological development, in this case to find additional security against double-spends. New approaches included the Komodo Platform’s use of bitcoin’s more reliable security as a backstop to the altcoin’s native consensus security, and a plan proposed by Flo developers to enlist the user base to automatically rent hashing power and offset an attacker. The industry was showing, once again, that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
